Alexandre Simos est invité par le Laboratoire d'Hydrodynamique, Énergétique et Environnement Atmosphérique (LHEEA) du 16 au 22 octobre 2022.
Professeur associé au département d'architecture navale et de génie océanique (USP) de l'Université de Sao Paulo, il a été responsable du département de 2014 à 2018. Il travaille principalement sur l'hydrodynamique marine, en particulier sur les systèmes offshore et océaniques. Il enseigne régulièrement et coordonne des projets de R&D en coopération avec l'industrie et les institutions gouvernementales.

- "Slow motions of offshore floating units induced by second-order wave effects" : This talk will provide an overview of the research done by our group on the slow-drifts experienced by floating units in waves. We will start by revisiting problems related to resonant vertical motions of deep-draft oil&gas units, addressed in the late 1990's, and then move on to more recent topics, such as the slow-drifts of floating wind turbines.
- "An overview of the Brazilian offshore wind scenario and the main research topics conducted at USP" : Brazil is on its way to initiating what will potentially be major wind power production along parts of its coasts. This talk will firstly address the current Brazilian offshore wind scenario (wind potential, regulations, industrial plans, etc.). In the second part, the main research topics on onshore/offshore wind carried at USP Polytechnic School will be presented and opportunities for cooperation in R,D&I will be discussed.
