Measuring instruments back in service at the Cardinaux lighthouse

One year on from the restoration work on the dome of the Cardinaux lighthouse, the wind measurement instruments at the Cardinaux lighthouse are back in service.

As the initial structure used to house the sensor was permanently removed, a new support solution had to be found for the sensor, which complied the constraints of the building and signage. With the measuring instruments back in service at Les Cardinaux we can continue building our knowledge of the environment and improve the safety of the local maritime activities. During Storm Alex this autumn, wind gusts were recorded at 186 km/h at Belle Ile en mer and 157 km/h on the Floatgen wind turbine.

Close collaboration between ENVSN, the Lighthouses and Beacons of Morbihan and the LHEEA teams, within the framework of the Windmorbihan project, made the resumption of measurements possible. Real-time wind measurements are freely accessible on the SEM-REV website (https://livedata.sem-rev.ec-nantes.fr) and at the Windmorbihan project of which Centrale Nantes is a partner (www.windmorbihan.com).
