ISWEC: Five wave energy converters tested in array configuration
Within the framework of Marinet2 transnational access, the ISWEC team, from Politecnico di Torino, carried out three weeks of testing at the Centrale Nantes facilities in February 2018.

The first goal of the experimental campaign was to investigate the hydrodynamic interaction of a 5-WEC system in two different array configurations. This study is a crucial step in view of the deployment of full-scale arrays in real sea conditions.
Another fundamental objective was the comparison of the experimental results, both body dynamics and wave fields around the bodies, with the numerical results achieved with potential flow-based codes (e.g. Ansys Aqwa, Wamit). The dynamics of the isolated body and array configurations was studied in both regular and irregular waves, in order to evaluate the performance of the device also coupled with the mooring system.
