Dissemination of LHEEA's scientific culture: action underway

Dissemination of research - making research findings available to as wide an audience as possible - is part of a researcher's role.

The LHEEA has been involved in this process for several years. Various actions have been implemented under the banner "Scientific, Technical and Industrial Culture". Our teams take part, for example, in the Centrale Nantes Open Day every year, as part of the national Science Fair. On the topic of Marine Renewable Energies, a public exhibit was put together in 2015, and is presented at various events or loaned to other structures. The LHEEA also participated in the Nuit des Chercheurs event in 2018.

Its actions also cater for schools, who regularly ask to meet researchers on specific topics or visit some laboratory facilities, such as the ocean test facilities at Centrale Nantes.

More recently, Aurélien Babarit and Jean-Christophe Gilloteaux, both research engineers working on Marine Renewable Energies, have presented energy transition issues directly in primary, middle- and high school classrooms. The aim is to make school pupils aware of the state of play regarding scientific knowledge on climate change and renewable energies. These school conferences are now relayed by the Nantes education authority to its teachers who can request them as part of their teaching programmes.
