This week at 1:30 PM in room C104, Aurélien Babarit, EMO researcher, will present his work on :

"A discussion of the potential of renewable power for the energy transition"

Seminar Abstract:

This seminar will be an attempt to clarify the potential of renewable power for the energy transition. Using data from the latest IPCC reports, we will start by recalling the grand challenge of climate change and its mitigation.

Then, using data from the scientific literature, we will discuss the potential of renewable power including whether the renewable enery potential on spaceship Earth is sufficient to cover the global energy consumption, whether there is enough space, whether the availability of critical minerals can be an issue, etc.

Finally, we will present the recent scenario for a 100% global renewable energy mix by 2050 by Jacobson et al. (2017) and the related challenges
