Guillaume Oger research work is centered around the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) and Finite Volumes methods for the simulation of complex flows in the presence of a free surface or an interface, and generally in coupled interaction with solids (rigid or deformable) with complex geometries.

The research topics addressed are oriented towards improving the convergence and stability properties of these methods, with a view to reducing their numerical diffusion and improving the accuracy of simulations. In particular, the regularity of the pressure and velocity fields represents a central point of the improvements made. Another important element concerns the imposition of boundary conditions, a topic that appears to be recurrent over the past fifteen years and on which the international scientific community is still making significant efforts today.

Other crucial points concern the acceleration of computation with equivalent precision, by local refinement methods but also by multi-CPU and GPU parallelization.

His research efforts are also oriented towards the diversification of applications, multiphase models and fluid-structure coupling in particular. Through these 15 years of research, and through the supervision of a dozen doctoral theses and several post-doctorates, these various works finally led to a certain maturity of the models and participated in the emergence of two solvers, named SPH-Flow and WCCH, and developed jointly today by LHEEA and its industrial partner NEXTFLOW Software.
