This week Elvire Katramiz, intern in the EMO team, will present his work on :

"A comparative study: Horizontal vs Vertical Axis Wind Turbines "

A comparative study between two types of wind turbines: Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWTs) and Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWTs), mounted on the same type of floating platform: the DeepCWind sumi-submersible, will be presented. The differences between the movements of the two types of wind turbines, their power production as well as the tensions in their mooring lines will be characterized on several sea states and with different turbulent wind directions.
