This week at 1:45 PM in room B009,  Alban Leroyer (METHRIC) and students from the specialization "Scientific Challenges 2024", will hold a presentation entitled:

SPRing, Simulator of Performance in Rowing : briefing on the development carried out by the students of the specialization "Scientific Challenges 2024"

Seminar Abstract:

Since more than twenty years old, a relationship has been forged between the LHEEA Lab. and the French Rowing Federation through various research projects mainly related to the validation of both complex flows, around the hull and around the blade, in which some Master and PhD students have contributed.
With the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and the knowledge gained over the years, it was decided in collaboration with the CREPS Pays-de-la-Loire that time has come to develop operational tools which could provide concrete answers to sport experts and coaches using numerical simulation.

Given the multidisciplinary and engineering-oriented nature of this task, it was decided to also involve students of the Engineering Programme through a project-based specialization called "Scientific Challenge 2024 / Paris Scientifique 2024" in this ambitious  project.

This year, the project aims to develop an high-fidelity simulator of the complete boat-oar-rower system in order to able to (once validated):

Take part in improving knowledge about how the complete boat-oar-rower system works
Conduct parametric studies of the determinants of sports performance in rowing from simulations
Make the research results accessible for sports experts
Use the simulation results to propose training tools for coaches.

A progress report of this on-going project will be presented while the end of the first cohort is approaching.
